Once upon a time, when Knew Concepts first started, Elkhead Tools recognized that we were something unique, and made a line very high end replacement handles that fit our saws to upgrade them to something truly special.
A Knew Concepts saw with an Elkhead handle is the absolute peak of the artisan saw.
After 14 years, they have decided to hang up their aprons. We then had the opportunity to buy their remaining inventory of handles. These handles are all larger than our standard handle, turned and polished in Mesquite, with machined brass ferrules. The extra weight in the palm of your hand makes the saw ride like it's on rails. There are two sizes: medium & large. The handles to fit the Mk4 saws and Coping saws are all 'large', while you have a choice of medium or large handles for the Mk3 (and titanium) saws.
Be aware that there is a difference between the mounts, so a Mk3 handle will not fit a Mk4 saw, and vice versa. The Coping Saw uses Mk4 handles.
Prior to this, if you wanted to add their handles, you had to take ours off, which was a pain. For a limited time (until we run out) these handles are available either separately, or 'factory installed' on any saw purchased at the same time. So if you want just a handle for your existing saw, purchase the handle by itself. If you want us to install it on your new Knew Concepts saw, buy the two of them together, and we'll install it here, free of charge and fuss.
Elkhead was a boutique company, specializing in the highest quality handles. So we have a very limited supply, and once those are gone, that's it. We will not be continuing Elkhead's handles.
