The Mk4 versions have been improved in other areas:
The saw frame is now one of our heavy duty Mk4 saws, for increased tension.
This Die Saw version has a tilting bench pin optimized for cutting dies and wax.
Both versions are available with either a pair of dovetail plates to mount the saws to the bench by way of screwed on dovetail plates, or with a pair of dovetail clamps, which allow the saws to be moved around the shop, or taken to workshops or other locations.
Both versions come off the dovetails quickly and easily, allowing for instant storage.
Freeing up valuable bench space when not in use.
Both versions have built in protractors for easy angle settings. The Die Saw version also has a system of speed wheels that allow for quick setting of common angles without needing to watch the protractor.
The biggest improvement?
The biggest improvement is the new saw guide tower with ball bearing slides. The new guide tower lets the saw swing fore-and-aft as you cut, which is a much more natural motion for sawing. This improves ease of use, as well as radically reducing the effort of cutting, as compared to previous die saw designs.
What’s the difference between the various versions?
First, there are two distinct saws:
One for cutting dies. This page is for the die saw version.
After that, you can pick which kind of dovetail mount you need. The system requires two dovetails. But how those dovetails hang on to your bench is up to you. You can either get bare dovetails that must be screwed in place onto your bench, or you can get a pair of dovetail clamps, which have the dovetails mounted onto clamps. That will let your saw go anywhere you need it to. The dovetails are also good for mounting any other dovetail system tool you already own, like our stainless bench pin, or any of GRS’s vast line of dovetail accessories for jewelers and engravers.
